Spring is the perfect time to shake off the winter blues and get creative! Whether you’re looking for a fun weekend project or something to keep the kids entertained during spring break, crafting is a great way to embrace the season. A few springs ago, we hosted a fantastic kids’ craft workshop with Elyse Maree Fehr from Hip Hooray Studios, and it was such a joy to see little hands busy with paint, glue, and all things colorful.

Inspired by that event, here are some simple and fun spring crafts to try at home!

BRINGING SPRING TO LIFE

Flowers, and Birds, and Butterflies... Oh My!

Spring Garland

Add a festive touch to your home with a handmade garland. Cut out flowers, butterflies, or birds from colorful paper, then string them together with twine. Hang it in a window or along a mantel to brighten up your space.

DIY Flower Crowns

Celebrate spring in style by making your own flower crown! Use real blooms from your garden or faux flowers from the craft store, along with some floral wire and tape. This is a fun craft for all ages and perfect for springtime photos.

Pressed Flower Art

Flowers don’t have to fade away — preserve them by pressing them into art! Choose your favourite blossoms, press them between parchment paper under a heavy book, and after a few days, use them to decorate cards, bookmarks, or framed art pieces.

Painted Rock Garden Markers

Get creative in the garden by painting rocks to use as plant markers. Just grab some smooth stones, outdoor paint, and a few paintbrushes to label your herbs and flowers. This is an easy and practical way to bring a pop of color to your outdoor space.

Pinecone Bird Feeders

Welcome springtime birds to your yard with a homemade feeder! Simply spread peanut or seed butter on a pinecone, roll it in birdseed, and hang it from a tree. It’s a quick and fun way to enjoy nature while helping out the local wildlife.

Spring is all about new beginnings, so why not add some creativity into the mix? Whether you try one of these projects or come up with your own, crafting is a great way to bring a little joy to the season. Happy crafting!
